Therapeutic Music Session

The therapy service is provided to local day centres and hospitals. Clients attend with a variety of needs, from those with severe mental health problems to those who just want an outlet to release day-to-day tension.

The aim of Music for Therapy is to provide a safe therapeutic environment where music can be enjoyed in groups or on a one-to-one basis. The main purpose is to improve the clients’ lifestyle and wellbeing. Music is used to stimulate and relax the mind and body. Percussion, keyboard instruments and singing are all used in the therapeutic process.

Clients have a varied involvement from listening to the leader make music or listening to the other participants, to playing or singing on their own.

Music can be enjoyed by non musicians and musicians equally well. Music is an international language that can be shared by all. I summarize the other benefits below:

Lorraine has a wealth of experience and is both dynamic and compassionate. She has the gift of insight that gives the clients the opportunity to build trust and benefit fully from the sessions. Lorraine has cognitive behavioural therapy experience (CBT) which she uses to compliment the therapy. Lorraine’s aim is to help the client to use music to gain wellbeing by both releasing and stimulating the mind.
